In an exciting turn of events, Princess Amelia’s position in the royal line of succession remains steadfast, even with the arrival of a new prince in the family. Duchess Kate welcomed her third child this morning, adding another adorable prince to the royal lineup. This momentous occasion is noteworthy for several reasons, but one in particular deserves the spotlight: for the first time in royal history, a prince will not displace his older sister from her place in the succession line.
As it stands, Princess Amelia is currently fourth in line for the throne, sandwiched between her two princely brothers. Thanks to a significant legislative change passed in Parliament in 2013, ahead of Prince Henry’s birth, Amelia’s position is secure and will remain unchanged despite the arrival of future brothers. Consequently, the newborn prince is now fifth in line, just behind his sister, older brother Prince George, their father Prince William, and grandfather Prince Charles.
It appears Princess Amelia is already honing her royal etiquette, as she graciously greeted the public while arriving at the hospital to meet her mother and her new baby brother earlier today.

She began waving almost immediately after Prince William helped her out of the car and continued until she was safely inside the Lindo Wing.
Princess Amelia knows just what the public wants to see—a delightful nearly three-year-old princess enthusiastically waving to her fans, and she is more than happy to oblige.
Meanwhile, the Palace’s official Twitter account is diligently updating everyone about the latest royal baby milestones, including the visit from the siblings. It looks like this newly expanded family of five will all reunite later today when Kate, William, and their newest addition leave the hospital.
The Palace has also informed us that George and Amelia returned home after their visit, where they are likely excitedly awaiting their new brother’s arrival. With the recent addition of a brother, Amelia can rest assured that her royal status remains intact, allowing her to focus on being the typical three-year-old big sister instead of worrying about her future royal duties.
