Amazon Echo users are sharing spine-chilling accounts of their experiences with Alexa.

I consider myself quite the fearless person. I binge-watch horror films without a second thought and have even spent nights in supposedly haunted locations, hoping to catch a glimpse of something supernatural. However, even I have my limits—like when a robotic voice starts laughing at me out of nowhere or suggests funeral homes without being prompted.

Strangely enough, some Amazon Echo owners are reporting just that while using Alexa, the brand’s virtual assistant meant to assist with daily tasks—not to instill fear. Just listen to this unsettling giggle and try to remain calm.

Absolutely not. It seems that this eerie, unsolicited laughter is becoming a common occurrence among Alexa users.

“Just toss her into a wood chipper for good measure!” one user joked. While Alexa is designed to chuckle when you tell her a joke, what’s amusing about her refusing to respond to your question and then cackling sinisterly? Nothing!

What in the world? Or perhaps just set the house ablaze with Alexa trapped inside—though it seems nothing could truly eliminate her.

One user posed an excellent question: “How do you survive the robot uprising?” My advice? Unplug that device and pretend it never existed.

In the meantime, Amazon is aware of these bizarre incidents and is working to resolve the issue. In a statement to The Verge, they said, “We’re aware of this and working to fix it.” Hopefully, they get on that quickly!
