Remember the outrageous fashion from the 1980s? Whether you lived through it or have only seen the cringe-worthy photos, it’s tough to forget the era’s unique style. One couple truly embraced that spirit with a vibrant ’80s-themed photoshoot to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. Trust us, you’ll want to take notes from this fun and fabulous celebration!
Meet Mark and Lisa Thompson from Springfield, Ohio, who recently commemorated a decade of marriage. As parents of three energetic boys, they decided to make their anniversary special with a photoshoot that would capture the essence of their favorite decade.
The results? Simply unforgettable.
In a dazzling array of outfits that pay homage to ’80s icons, the couple channeled their inner pop culture figures. Think flashy bodysuits, oversized hair, and the classic mustache that screams ‘80s dad. These two definitely nailed it!
Photographer Sarah Jenkins of Rainbow Dreams Photography shared that the shoot was filled with laughter, as the couple couldn’t help but break into giggles after nearly every shot. “When they showed up in their first outfit, I couldn’t stop laughing,” Jenkins recalled. “We had a blast shooting in my backyard, and the reactions from neighbors were priceless. They probably thought we were a bit eccentric!”
Eccentric? If I were a neighbor, I’d be begging to join in! Just save me a neon headband and some tiny dumbbells, please.
According to Mark, the inspiration for their whimsical pictorial stemmed from fond memories of their parents’ old photos from the ’80s. “We wanted to capture that goofy charm, with all the funny poses and ridiculous backdrops,” he explained. “Some shots were reminiscent of those classic Olan Mills portraits, while others were purely spontaneous.”
Those iconic ghostly silhouettes? I can instantly recall friends whose parents had similar shots adorning their walls. Truly iconic!
Even weeks after sharing their nostalgic images, Mark says the buzz around town hasn’t died down. “People still talk about the photos wherever we go,” he noted. “Neighbors were definitely puzzled when they saw us posing for those pictures!”
Puzzled? Or simply dazzled by the sheer awesomeness of it all?
