OMG: The First ‘Gossip Girl’ Reboot Trailer Has Arrived

Fans of Gossip Girl, get ready! The trailer for the eagerly awaited reboot has just been released, and it features a voice you’ll recognize. The reboot, developed and produced by showrunner Joshua Safran—who was involved with the original series that aired from 2007 to 2012—picks up nine years later, introducing a new cast of characters such as Julien Calloway, a teen influencer, played by Alexander; Audrey Hope, portrayed by Lind; Zoya Lott, a character reminiscent of Dan Humphrey played by Peak; and Otto “Obie” Bergmann IV, a wealthy philanthropist played by Brown.

“Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of private school teens in New York will experience the social surveillance of Gossip Girl,” the official summary states. The prestige series will explore how social media—and New York itself—has evolved over the years. “It’s just a new look at this particular society in New York, the idea being that society changes constantly,” Safran explained. “So how has this world changed, how has social media and its effect changed? All of those things allow us to look at the world 12 years on as opposed to just redoing the story.”

Expect to see some unforgettable fashion moments, too, as original costume designer Eric Daman returns for the reboot. The new Gossip Girl series is set to premiere on July 8 on HBO Max.
