Meet six-year-old Ethan, a spirited little boy who recently starred in his own thrilling Power Ranger movie. Just like many young boys, Ethan enjoys swimming and playing with friends, but his greatest passion lies with the Power Rangers. Despite facing a rare condition known as Brittle Bone Disease, or Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Ethan has proven that nothing can dim his vibrant spirit.

“Ethan has faced incredible challenges throughout his six years. He was born with this life-altering illness and has endured over 200 broken bones, yet his spirit remains unbreakable,” his mother, Lisa Thompson, shared with us. To honor Ethan’s resilience, a nonprofit organization called Heroes in Film stepped in to create a memorable experience for him.

“They see children like Ethan as real-life heroes,” Lisa explained. “What better theme for a movie than a hero? People love to see that!” The organization decided to bring Ethan’s dream to life by featuring him as the Red Dino Charge Power Ranger in a custom movie poster and trailer.

The co-founders of Heroes in Film, Mark Johnson and Sarah Lee, have backgrounds in the film industry, making them well-equipped to craft this magical experience. “The joy that Ethan felt during this process was extraordinary,” Lisa recounted. “He was treated like a star! He told me it was the best day of his life.”

Ethan’s adventure didn’t stop there. He flew to Los Angeles to walk the red carpet at the Power Rangers movie premiere. “He was over the moon to meet the actor who plays the Red Power Ranger in the recent reboot,” his mother said.

This unforgettable experience meant the world to Ethan, who radiated happiness. “I’ve never seen him smile so brightly,” Lisa expressed. While the Power Rangers inspire him, Ethan’s courage serves as a beacon of hope for countless children, parents, and families grappling with Osteogenesis Imperfecta or other serious medical challenges. “His condition doesn’t define him; even if his bones break, his spirit remains unyielding,” Lisa noted. “Ethan is undoubtedly my hero.”

The Thompson family shares their journey on Ethan’s Care to spread awareness about Brittle Bone Disease. “Through our story, I hope to reach out to families, not just those dealing with OI, but anyone facing struggles with their child. It’s a tough road, but it’s one you can navigate,” Lisa advised. “Never lose hope and always advocate for what’s best for your child.”
