If you have a toddler who loves to embrace their natural state, you may find yourself in quite the amusing predicament. Take, for instance, my 3-year-old, Lily. She stepped outside in a bright pink swimsuit adorned with unicorns and a floatation vest, only to make a swift escape from her attire mere minutes later. My partner, Sarah, sent her out to enjoy the sprinkler with her older siblings, but soon enough, our son burst into the kitchen, chuckling, “Lily is naked again!”
While we shared a knowing eye-roll, we couldn’t help but accept that in our fenced backyard, nudity was just a part of our daily routine. Not too long ago, we would rush outside to wrangle her back into clothes, only for her to shed them moments later. As she gleefully runs around, I’m the one turning red, while she’s just enjoying her freedom. Luckily, her adorable little bottom and chubby toddler belly bring a smile to my face, even as I grapple with the social norms of clothing in public.
