This maternity photo is destined to be a treasured keepsake for years to come. Maternity photography is a wonderful way to document the incredible changes a woman’s body undergoes during pregnancy. Skilled photographers know how to create the perfect image that encapsulates the experience. For Sarah Johnson, her maternity shoot became an unforgettable occasion.

Expecting her fourth child this fall, Johnson aimed to make this shoot particularly memorable, especially after the challenges she has faced. “This is our last planned pregnancy,” she shared with local news. “After the joy of welcoming two healthy children and the heartache of losing our second child, a baby girl named Lily, stillborn in 2015, this little boy is a true miracle. What better way to honor him than by capturing this extraordinary moment?”

Her mother-in-law, Emily Baker, the owner of Pure Light Photography, was the ideal choice to take the photos. Nature gifted the family with an awe-inspiring moment during the solar eclipse. “We experienced 99.1 percent totality,” Johnson recounted.

Baker shot the breathtaking images at Lakeview Park in Georgia. Alongside thousands of others, they witnessed the rare event—the first total solar eclipse visible in 99 years. The eclipse peaked at full totality in certain areas of North Georgia just after 2:30 p.m.

“I used my Canon Mark 3 with the most affordable lens I had, the Canon 24-105, just in case it got damaged,” Baker explained. She took separate photos of Johnson and the eclipse, as the sun was too high to fit both in the frame. “I photographed her first, then the sun above, and merged the images together,” she added in a social media post.

The outcome? Stunning images that Johnson and her family will hold dear forever.
