One of the greatest joys of parenting three children is the opportunity to carve out individual moments with each one. While spending time with one or two kids can be delightful, the transition from the delightful chaos of three to the serene companionship of one feels almost magical.
Recently, I had the pleasure of spending an entire week in London with my son, Max, joined by my mother during spring break. As the youngest, Max has always been a remarkably easy-going kid. I fondly recall a time when he was ecstatic over a new set of pajamas, thrilled to escape the hand-me-downs from his siblings. “They match!!!” he exclaimed, leaving our family in stitches and raising eyebrows about my parenting choices.
I was optimistic about our trip, mainly because it promised a break from the incessant sibling rivalry. Thankfully, everything went smoothly, and we all fell head over heels for London. Our itinerary was packed with remarkable experiences: watching Wicked and The Lion King, indulging in far too many petit fours during two delightful afternoon teas, and squeezing in some shopping time with my mom. Honestly, one child’s complaints felt like a walk in the park when I’m used to a symphony of whines from three!
Our Stay at The London Edition
One of the standout features of our trip was our stay at The London Edition. This stunning hotel, a fusion of five Georgian townhouses from 1835, was brought to life through a partnership between Ian Schrager, a co-founder of Studio 54, and Marriott. It’s a feast for the eyes, especially for design aficionados.
“Whoa,” Max remarked as we stepped into the lobby. “This place is so cool.” In the midst of a home renovation, I found myself taking notes and snapping photos for inspiration. Just take a look at this bar! Not too extravagant for my home, right?
The dining area was breathtakingly beautiful. I might have indulged in two baths every day we were at The London Edition; the bathroom was so immaculate and inviting that I couldn’t resist. Far tidier than my bathroom at home, that’s for sure!
Every time we returned to the hotel, we were greeted warmly by the staff, and there was a delightful treat waiting for us in our room each night. It’s those little touches that truly make a stay memorable, and I was in absolute bliss.
A well-chosen hotel can elevate any trip, and I’m sincerely grateful to The London Edition for making ours unforgettable. Although we enjoyed a discounted rate during our stay, all opinions expressed are my own.
