Dear Partner, Let’s Talk About the Clutter…

This morning started bright and early, and you’ve already mentioned the chaotic state of our home. So, let’s break down the mess and our day:

The Pile of Wet Blankets by the Door

Since our landing is conveniently located next to the laundry room, that’s where the wet blankets ended up. The kids decided to share a bed last night, and our eldest had an unfortunate accident. The youngest woke up surprised and covered in her sister’s mishap. It was quite the unforgettable morning, and we opted to focus on their feelings rather than the mess—trust me, I know all about waking up in a puddle, as it tends to be my side of the bed.

The Sticky Tabletop

Health advice seems to be everywhere these days: “No artificial colors! Cut out gluten! Go organic!” With this in mind, I thought fruits and veggies would be a safe bet. So, I handed the girls some peaches. What followed was a scene I can only describe as peachageddon. There was peach pulp scattered all over, and at one point, our eldest was under the table, passionately arguing about which peach belonged to her. Meanwhile, the toddler was sneaking off, attempting to share the peach core with the baby. It was a bit chaotic, but don’t worry—Little One is safe.

The Bathroom Floor

I’d rather not delve into the details here. Just trust me when I say we did our utmost—let’s just say the other side didn’t fare so well.

The Backyard

You may not have realized this yet, but our entire set of silverware is currently in the backyard. I know it’s dark outside now, and it’s dinner time (a different saga I’ll get to shortly). I initially planned for finger foods, but then… well, the kitchen happened.

The Kitchen

While I was putting the baby down for a nap, the girls attempted to help with the dishes, which resulted in a few broken cups. As for dinner, they decided to remove all the labels from the pantry cans and managed to shred a loaf of bread. So, we’ve got a pizza on its way.

Despite the disaster zone that is our home—crumbs in our bed, wet towels causing a stink in the bathroom, pee-soaked laundry at the entrance, broken glass in the trash, and a collection of mystery meals for the coming weeks—there was a lot of love today. The girls shared a bed, a sister tried to feed her baby sister, and we tackled potty training and fruit-related identity crises together.

I know you’re not one for excuses, but please forgive the mess—we were busy making memories. If you’re interested in learning more about parenting, check out this resource from the CDC. It has excellent information on pregnancy and home insemination. For those considering family planning, our blog also covers helpful topics like at-home insemination kits.
