These stunning images highlight the undeniable charm of Paris, no matter the season. For many, this winter feels like a never-ending cycle of cold and gloom. However, in the City of Light, things look quite different. Recent photographs reveal that winter in Paris can be absolutely enchanting.

Typically, Paris doesn’t experience much snowfall, even during the chilliest months. Yet, after a remarkable six inches of snow fell yesterday, the iconic cityscapes that we adore from films and postcards are blanketed in white for the first time in ages. While Paris averages around 15 snowy days each year, it hasn’t witnessed significant accumulation since 1987, according to The Mercury News.

Despite the city being somewhat caught off guard by this “petit blizzard,” Parisians eagerly embraced the magical transformation of their city. It’s hard not to feel a sense of wonder looking at these pictures—they are simply dreamy.

The French might not be as enamored with their renowned landmarks as visitors are, but who can resist the allure of this? A snowstorm swept through Paris on February 6, 2018, causing traffic disruptions. (Photo by Julien Mattia/NurPhoto via Getty Images)

Doesn’t the scene make you want to pour a glass of wine and stroll through the snow? Why can’t it look like this where you live?

I’ve visited Paris, albeit on a shoestring budget during a college journalism trip, and these images still evoke deep emotion within me, even years later. It’s a city that radiates magic.

Vehicles navigate through heavy snowfall near The Arc de Triomphe on the evening of February 6, 2018. With over 700 kilometers of traffic delays, the Eiffel Tower closed, TGV services slowed, and public transport and schools disrupted, this intense snowfall affected much of northern France. The freezing temperatures prompted 22 departments to activate their “extreme cold” plans. (Photo credit should read PHILIPPE DUPEYRAT/AFP/Getty Images)

Is this not the perfect cover for a romance novel? Or perhaps a picturesque screensaver? Ah, le sigh.

For a city that hasn’t seen more than a dusting of snow in over three decades, Parisians have adapted remarkably well (full disclosure: French people seem to exude a relaxed happiness). There are adults in the snowy expanses of the Northeastern U.S. who wouldn’t dare step outside under similar conditions.

Take, for instance, this woman casually biking through the snow, her outfit reminiscent of a high-fashion magazine.

And then there are those seizing the opportunity to revel in the romance of Paris’s winter wonderland. Perhaps they thought, “It may be the middle of the week, but let’s tie the knot in this snowy backdrop.” Who could resist such beauty?

Kudos to this gentleman for not waiting another 30 years to ski down the streets of Paris. Both locals and tourists shared their breathtaking snowy snapshots across social media, creating a collective appreciation for the enchanting scenery.

And what can be more dreamy than a castle blanketed in snow? While the majestic Chambord castle is located two hours from Paris, it’s too picturesque to overlook.
