Dear Amazing Kids,
Ho, ho, ho! This is Santa Claus writing to you from the North Pole. With Christmas just around the corner, I wanted to share my excitement about the holiday season! My hardworking elves are busy crafting toys, and the reindeer are getting ready for our global adventure. I’ve noticed my naughty list is much shorter this year, which means you’ve all done a fantastic job and earned a special place on my nice list!
I know that the holidays can be a bit challenging sometimes, especially when it comes to meeting me. Crowded malls can be loud, and the hustle and bustle can feel overwhelming. You might be wondering how I understand this so well—well, here’s a little secret: I have autism too!
When I was a young elf, the wind howling as it brought snow for my sleigh made my head spin. The joyful carols sung by my elves were sometimes too loud, making me want to hide under Mrs. Claus’s cozy apron. Even when I went to malls to see wonderful kids like you, I often felt out of place during this festive time, and I didn’t completely understand why.
As I grew older, with the help of my supportive elf family, my reindeer pals, and of course, Mrs. Claus, I learned how to navigate these situations a little better. Sometimes, I still find certain things challenging, and that’s perfectly okay!
This year, inspired by my own experiences, the elves and I have decided to bring some North Pole cheer directly to you! We’re organizing an autism-friendly day of fun just for you. My elves are excited to teach you some of the quieter songs they’ve been practicing, and we’ll also have some delightful arts and crafts activities, North Pole style. And I can’t wait for one of my favorite moments—we’ll take a picture together to capture our joyful celebration!
The elves and I are absolutely thrilled to meet each and every one of you. I truly hope we can host more autism-friendly events in the future for children like you all around the world. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
With warm wishes,
Santa
