Parenting

Having a baby is, without a doubt, one of the most draining experiences imaginable. Infants seem to have an aversion to sleep, leading you to question if they actually harbor a dislike for you. During the fleeting moments of rest I managed to snag when my children were infants, I often found myself dreaming of blissful, uninterrupted sleep. Then, just as I began to drift into a peaceful slumber, I would be jolted awake by a wriggling, whimpering little being, and sometimes, tears would well up because I craved it so deeply.
I distinctly remember the first occasions when my kids slept through the night. Waking up renewed for the first time in months unleashed a whirlwind of emotions. After longing, wishing, and even dreaming about a full night’s sleep for what felt like an eternity, I found myself engulfed in utter bewilderment.
