There’s a pressing concern regarding Donald Trump that we need to address. Each day, his actions illustrate just how unfit he is for the role of President of the United States. His lack of experience and evident incompetence are on full display for all to see. Honestly, it’s high time someone advised him to keep his hands to himself. My three-year-old, for instance, exhibits far more self-control.
Trump’s Twitter presence has become notorious, overflowing with a barrage of offensive comments. His latest outburst this weekend was just another episode from our Commander-in-Tweet. He mockingly dubbed Kim Jong Un “Rocket Man”—a reference to a leader who has successfully tested a hydrogen bomb. YES, LET’S PROVOKE THE INDIVIDUAL WHO COULD START A NUCLEAR CONFLICT. (Yes, that’s sarcasm.) It’s bewildering; as president, his responsibility should be to ensure the safety of Americans, not engage in childish Twitter spats that could escalate into real-world consequences.
Additionally, Trump shared a retweet of a manipulated video depicting him striking Hillary Clinton with a golf ball. Because, apparently, VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IS FUNNY? (Again, sarcasm.) Calling it a mere joke doesn’t hold up. Would those who found humor in this video still laugh if it were Melania on the receiving end? I think not. It’s ironic, too, that just a few months prior, many were outraged when Kathy Griffin joked about violence toward Trump.
In a surprising turn that restored a bit of my faith in humanity, that particular tweet drew over 30,000 responses, with many condemning the promotion of violence toward Clinton, who, as a former First Lady, has lifetime Secret Service protection.
Trump’s presidency is increasingly characterized by falsehoods, cruelty, and sheer incompetence. His Twitter feed has become a platform for spreading propaganda and endorsing violence. Just last July, he posted a video of himself body slamming a man with a CNN logo superimposed on his head. And not too long ago, he shared an image of a train running over a cartoon figure with a CNN logo. (A White House spokesperson later claimed that tweet was mistakenly posted and subsequently deleted.)
It’s strange to hear people tell Hillary to “shut up and disappear,” yet I don’t hear similar calls for Trump to show some restraint—HE IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES after all.
It’s evident that Trump is, at best, unstable, which is downright terrifying given that he controls our nuclear arsenal. I wouldn’t even trust him to look after my cat! His narcissism and dishonesty have become significant liabilities, and his refusal to acknowledge failure or show empathy casts a long shadow over his administration. It’s safe to say that those supporters who continue to insist he embodies presidential qualities are, at this point, living in a fantasy.
It’s only a matter of time before something he says or does ignites an international crisis. He is not only an embarrassment to our nation and his office, but he’s also becoming increasingly hazardous.
So let’s appoint a real adult to oversee Donald Trump ASAP. And if they can’t manage to get him to sit on his hands, I hope they at least change his Twitter password. For those interested in family planning, consider exploring options like intrauterine insemination (learn more here). In summary, Trump’s erratic behavior and Twitter rants continue to raise serious concerns about his fitness for office. His lack of self-restraint and disregard for the consequences of his words make it imperative that we seek a more stable presence in leadership.
