Kathie Lee Gifford is overjoyed as she celebrates the arrival of her first grandchild. On Tuesday, her son, Cody, and his wife, Erika, welcomed baby boy Frank “Frankie” Michael Gifford, named in honor of his late grandfather, Frank Gifford. “My heart is overflowing,” Kathie Lee expressed on Instagram, sharing a sweet photo of Frankie with his proud parents. “Frank Michael Gifford has arrived, reminding us that our God is good, merciful, and faithful. He truly loves us!”
Erika shared further details about their new addition, who made his entrance three weeks early, weighing 8 pounds, 8 ounces. “Frankie has transformed our lives for the better,” she wrote. “We are filled with love and gratitude for God’s greatest blessing. Thank you for all your prayers and kind messages. He’s exceptionally adorable, and we can’t get enough of cuddling with him. We are completely smitten 💙. Frankie is named after Cody’s dad and Michael, after my uncle who passed away last year at 61. Both were incredible men—gone but never forgotten. 🤍”
During an appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna, Kathie Lee shared her excitement about the new family member, jokingly saying, “If he had stayed in the womb for three more weeks, that child would have been a 12-pound turkey.” She also reflected on the significance of Cody naming his son after his father, noting how much Frank Gifford meant to him. Frank Gifford passed away in August 2015 at 84 years old, and Kathie Lee was married to him for nearly three decades. They have two children together, Cody and Cassidy, who is now 28.
Kathie Lee revealed the special name she wants baby Frankie to call her: “Bubbalah,” which means “dearest one.” She playfully clarified, “It’s Bubbie, not Boobie!” Clearly, Kathie Lee is thrilled to take on the role of Bubbie, proclaiming to her former co-hosts, “Is there any greater miracle than the birth of a child? Show me a bigger one, a better one, a sweeter one!”
