Judge Issues Hilarious ‘Order’ to Ditch Elf On The Shelf for Exhausted Parents

As the holiday season approaches, the hustle and bustle of gift shopping, decorating, and cooking can be overwhelming for parents. With labor shortages and supply chain issues complicating matters, finding time to enjoy simple pleasures like sipping cocoa or curling up for a holiday movie seems nearly impossible. On top of that, many parents dread the daily task of moving an Elf on the Shelf around the house.

Well, if you’re feeling worn out and just can’t handle the elf antics this year, you’re in luck! A judge has stepped in to provide some comic relief. Judge Mark Thompson of Cobb County has humorously “banned” the Elf on the Shelf for parents who are simply too tired. He took to Twitter to share his “official order,” giving parents a reprieve from the holiday stress.

“Exhausted by the Elf on the Shelf phenomenon? Not eager to deal with the inevitable disappointment when your elf forgets to move? I’m here to help! I will take the blame,” Thompson tweeted. He added a friendly reminder: “If you enjoy your elf, feel free to keep it—no penalties!”

In a tongue-in-cheek legal statement, Judge Thompson declared that the Elf on the Shelf can be a “distraction for students and poses risks to emotional health.” He humorously noted that sometimes elves move, and sometimes they don’t, which can leave children in distress over their elf’s “magic.”

He even recounted a personal experience where his own elf’s failure to move one night resulted in one of his children being dubbed the “elf murderer.” Sound familiar?

So, if you’re looking for an excuse to skip the elf tradition this year, Judge Thompson’s order has you covered. Maybe we can even convince him to draft something for a permanent elf retirement plan in the future. Just a thought!
