I vividly recall the evening Princess Diana passed away. As a college freshman, I had my first beer while watching the shocking news unfold. It was an unfathomable moment; her tragic accident left the world in disbelief. Many believe that the relentless paparazzi contributed to her untimely end. Diana was adored globally, inspiring numerous books and films, and now she has her own stage production — “Diana: The Musical,” available for streaming on Netflix. It’s a whimsical two-hour diversion.

As someone who loves musical theatre and has spent years on stage, I was eager to check this out. Contrary to the critics’ reviews, I found it enjoyable. I wasn’t expecting a historically precise retelling; I wanted catchy tunes, beautiful costumes, and a bit of light-heartedness. In that regard, ‘Diana’ certainly delivered. While it may not reach the heights of ‘Hamilton’ or ‘Grease,’ the music was pleasant, and the performances were commendable. And let’s not forget — Diana’s wigs were spot on!

Critics may have dismissed it, but I encourage you to give “Diana” a try. Even if you can’t commit to two hours, play it in the background while you tidy up. The music is catchy and serves as a reminder that life can be tough, but you can persevere. Diana was an icon, and the world could use more individuals like her.
