You Must Try Cooking Your Steaks in the Air Fryer—Here’s How

I enjoy baking and have received compliments on my skills, but grilling? That’s a different story. My kids and I all prefer our steaks tender and juicy—not tough to chew or overly rare. Getting red meat just right has always been a challenge for me. There are times when I can’t slice through it, and then there are those lucky moments when it turns out perfectly. I can’t help but rave about it, although my family remains silent, perhaps as a reminder of my culinary triumph.

The aroma of a grilled steak on a summer night is delightful; however, my outdoor grilling days have dwindled since discovering how TikToker, @lowcarbstateofmind, prepares steak in her air fryer. I’m more than willing to swap my grill for the air fryer because the flavor of these steak bites is incredible and makes me feel like a much better cook than I truly am.

We stumbled upon this recipe a week ago and have already made these steak bites three times without any complaints from my kids about toughness. In fact, I’ve been quite pleased with the results.

There are several aspects of this recipe that I appreciate. First, sirloin is a budget-friendly cut of meat. Shortly after finding this recipe, my local grocery store offered sirloin for just $4.99 per pound. Feeding a family of four with red meat can be costly, so I took advantage of the sale.

Initially, I was skeptical since I’ve tried every trick to make sirloin taste like a filet or ribeye—marinating, brining, tenderizing, and various cutting techniques—yet nothing seemed to work for me. They all required too much effort for my liking. However, this recipe was simple and only took fourteen minutes to prepare enough steak to serve my entire family. Each batch is about a pound and cooks in just seven minutes. After the first round, I covered them with foil and popped in the second batch.

To make the steak bites, simply cube some sirloin with a sharp knife. Then, add pantry staples like steak seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, oil, dried chives, salt, and pepper. The measurements don’t need to be precise. I didn’t have dried chives, but I substituted dried oregano instead.

Although I’m not a huge fan of steak seasoning or Worcestershire sauce, as I prefer the natural flavor of the meat, this combination worked perfectly. What truly elevates these steak bites to restaurant quality is the buttery garlic sauce they get tossed in after cooking.

Melt a bit of butter, mix in some minced garlic, and give the steak bites a quick toss. They practically transport your taste buds to another level. I did sample a few without the butter and garlic, and they were fantastic, but the added flavors truly enhance the experience.

These steak bites are a great solution for when you’re craving something indulgent but don’t want to expend too much energy. We sautéed some peppers and made rice, creating a gourmet meal in under thirty minutes—all for less than twenty bucks, with leftovers for the next day.

These steak bites would also pair wonderfully with baked or mashed potatoes, saving time compared to making a roast. Personally, I’m looking forward to enjoying them with some crispy french fries.

If you find grilling or pan-searing steak a challenge, or if you’re simply seeking a quick and easy recipe that will impress, rush to the store for some sirloin and whip up these steak bites. You’ll feel accomplished for sure!
