Dear Children,

There are mornings when I wake up and notice that you’ve changed overnight. Your features are more defined, and your eyes reflect a wisdom beyond your years. While part of me feels elated and inspired by your growth, another part grapples with the swift passage of time. I fear I haven’t always been present enough to witness the magic of your journey. Have I cherished you enough? Have I fulfilled your needs? Is your heart whole? Is your spirit still radiant?

I must confess, I don’t always excel in my role as your mother. I aspire to be exceptional, and at times I succeed. Yet there are moments when I stumble. Sometimes I understand, and sometimes I falter. I make errors every day. I may respond harshly when I should be nurturing. I may assign chores when all you need is an embrace. I recognize when I miss the mark, and later I mourn my missed opportunities.

When exhaustion sets in, you often receive the remnants of my energy at the end of a long day, and I regret that. When fear looms—whether it’s from daunting challenges or minor worries—I find myself caught in its grip, sometimes forgetting to relax and enjoy our time together. I strive to improve on that front.

There are instances when I feel lost, battling my own internal struggles, be it anxiety or sadness. These battles are never your fault, and I commit to working towards healing so that I can support you through your own challenges.

It’s easy to focus on the negatives and overlook the positives, but I want to be clear: I am immensely proud of you. When I look at you, I see potential, kindness, and strength. You are a treasure, embodying purity and fierceness.

I am your biggest supporter and your number one fan. Please continue to help me understand you. Let me know when I’ve hurt you. Share your fears and insecurities with me, and together we will navigate them.

I accept that mistakes are part of life, but I cannot accept losing your trust. Your heart is what truly matters to me. I hope my imperfections teach you resilience. When you encounter your own challenges, I want you to embrace them, knowing that you can face them head-on.

Mistakes are part of our journey, and that’s perfectly fine. We are all learners, and you will inevitably make many mistakes, just as I have. Yet not one will overshadow the light I see in you. You are my joy and my purpose.

Though time may rush by, there are moments when everything pauses. In those instances, I see you for who you are and who you’re becoming, and I can’t help but think… Wow.

On those days when it feels like you’ve grown overnight, remember you are remarkable. You inspire me daily to bring out the best within myself. In our family, we will stumble but will rise together, holding each other close.

Perfection is unattainable, but my devotion to you is unwavering. I am forever yours and always on your side, and that’s a promise I will keep.

With all my love,

Mama
