Are you overdue for a girls’ getaway?
Recently, a few of us decided to break free from our daily routines and indulge in a much-needed vacation—without the kids! That’s right, we embarked on a trip designed for pure relaxation, laughter, and a chance to focus on ourselves for a change.
The crew: Amanda (Content Manager), Laura (Founder and Editor-in-Chief), and Beth (Editorial Director).
And let me tell you, it was absolutely incredible.
How often do you find yourself thinking, “I need a vacation”? If you’re like most moms, it’s probably a daily thought. But here’s the thing: we need more than just a typical family trip that involves packing for everyone and managing the chaos of traveling with kids. Let’s face it—traveling with little ones can be more exhausting than it is enjoyable.
So, when was the last time you treated yourself to a GIRL TRIP? The answer is likely “never,” as moms often prioritize everyone else’s needs over their own, day in and day out.
We chose Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, as our destination. While the island is family-friendly, it turned out to be the ideal location for our girls’ getaway. Picture this: strolling around carefree, without the pressure to dress up, surrounded by families. It’s not a glitzy resort like South Beach; it’s a cozy, fun town perfect for letting loose and simply being yourself.
Our accommodations were at the Sea Pines Resort, where we had a spacious three-story condo. Just imagine this: we each had the luxury of sleeping solo on king-sized beds. Yes, that’s right—no kids in sight! We were greeted with beautiful views from one of our three balconies.
Getting to Hilton Head was a breeze. We rented a car from the Savannah airport and enjoyed a short one-hour drive to the resort. Once there, we had various options to explore: bike rentals, trolleys, and cabs made getting around easy.
And let’s not forget about the drinks! Pina colada with a rum floater? Count us in.
The island offers a plethora of activities, allowing us to customize our experience. Want to get adventurous? You could go dolphin watching, kayak through the marshes, or even zipline. But full disclosure: we opted for a guilt-free approach, making no concrete plans and simply doing whatever we felt like. And yes, it was as fantastic as it sounds.
We treated ourselves to some Wonder Woman nightgowns and spent a blissful day at the Sea Pines Beach Club. They provided beach chairs and umbrellas for rent, plus drink service right on the sand. Just lift the little flag on your chair, and voila—a waitress appears, ready to serve. It was pure bliss.
We also pampered ourselves at the Westin Hilton Head’s Heavenly Spa, where we indulged in rejuvenating treatments, enjoyed a steam, and sipped mimosas. If you visit, ask for Gabriel—his hands are magic.
As for dining, if you’re fond of fresh seafood, you’re in for a treat. Our top pick was Hudson’s, a local gem that serves freshly caught fish, and trust us, you can taste the difference. We may or may not have returned the next day for their famous peanut butter pie and mud pie, and we relished every bite without sharing a single morsel with tiny hands.
Our trip was laid-back, effortless, and exactly what we needed to recharge. No passport required, no extensive planning needed. We spent two nights and three days away, returning home ready to embrace our kids with renewed energy.
So, if you find yourself in need of a break, it’s time to plan your own Girl Trip. You deserve it!
