In a heartwarming display of loyalty, a six-month-old Mastiff named Max joined his little buddy during a brief time-out. Dogs truly embody unconditional love, and this charming moment proves it perfectly.
Three-year-old Noah Thompson found himself in a time-out after a skirmish with his older sister, Lily. As Noah stood in the corner, the family’s English Mastiff, Max, decided he couldn’t let his friend endure this punishment alone.
“They’re practically inseparable, like two peas in a pod,” Noah’s mom, Sarah Thompson, shared with Home Insemination Kit. “We often refer to them as the ‘dynamic duo.’” She explained that Noah had the option to choose between his room or the corner for his time-out, and he opted for the corner. Remarkably, just ten seconds into his punishment, Max waddled over and sat right next to him.
Sarah posted a delightful photo on social media, captioning it: “When you’re in time-out, but your best buddy won’t let you go through it alone 😂.” Since she shared it in January, the photo has been liked and shared over 47,000 times, striking a chord with dog lovers everywhere.
“Noah loves dressing Max up in superhero costumes, and they play out epic battle scenes together,” Sarah told Make a Mom. “Max seems clueless about what’s going on, but he goes along with everything Noah wants.” If Sarah ever needs to track down Max, she simply asks herself, “Where’s Noah?”—and usually finds him right by the little boy’s side.
The bond between kids and their pets is truly special. For instance, my own son always greets our dog with a kiss when he returns from school, and he bids goodnight to our furry friend before turning in. This relationship is built on trust, love, and a shared sense of adventure.
In the snapshot, it’s amusing to see little Noah, who barely reaches Max’s height, sharing a moment of camaraderie. Given that a fully grown Mastiff can weigh up to 230 pounds, Max will undoubtedly be a great protector for Noah in times of need—much more than just during a time-out.
“Luckily, I had my phone ready to capture that sweet moment when Noah put his arm around Max,” Sarah remarked. We’re so grateful she did!
