Dear Partner, Let’s Talk About the Chaos…

This morning kicked off bright and early, and you immediately noticed the state of our home. So, let’s dive into the delightful disaster that was our day:

The Pile of Damp Blankets by the Entrance

Since the landing is conveniently located next to the laundry room, that’s where we had to stash the wet bedding. Last night, the girls decided to share a bed, resulting in a little nighttime accident. Our oldest had a little mishap, and the youngest woke up all snuggled in a puddle. It was quite the comedic scene, and instead of stressing over it, we focused on soothing their feelings. I can relate to the trauma of waking up in such a situation; after all, it’s not unusual for me to find a puddle on my side of the bed, either!

The Sticky Table Situation

With all the nutrition advice floating around—“No red dyes! No gluten! Go organic!”—I thought I was making a healthy choice by giving the girls peaches. Well, that decision turned into a peach explosion! There was peach pulp everywhere, and the oldest was under the table, passionately arguing about the unfairness of peach distribution. Meanwhile, the little one decided to attempt feeding the peach core to the baby. It was a scene of utter chaos. Don’t worry, the baby is safe!

The Bathroom Floor

Let’s not even go there. Just trust me when I say we did our best—if you saw the other side, you’d understand.

The Backyard Confession

You may not have realized it yet, but our entire silverware set seems to have taken a field trip to the backyard. I know it’s dark and dinner time is looming (that’s another saga I’ll get into shortly), but I thought finger foods would be a hit. Then, the kitchen decided to intervene.

The Kitchen Catastrophe

While I was trying to put the baby to sleep, the girls attempted to assist with the dishes. As a result, we now have a few shattered cups. As for dinner, in a burst of creativity, the girls removed all the labels from canned goods and managed to shred an entire loaf of bread. So, guess what? We’ve got a pizza on the way!

Amidst this whirlwind of mess, we’ve got crumbs in our bed, damp towels giving off a not-so-pleasant aroma in the bathroom, and a pile of laundry that could rival a mountain range. But you know what? Today was filled with love. The girls shared a bed, one sister tried to help her little sister, and we navigated the ups and downs of potty training and peach-related identity crises together. We really came together as a family.

I know you’re not one for excuses, but please forgive the mess. We were busy creating memories.

In summary, despite the mess, love and laughter filled our day, proving that sometimes chaos can be a beautiful thing.
