We need to get our hands on one of these!
A mother from the UK, named Rachel Smith, is convinced that her daughter’s talking baby doll is actually hurling insults at her little girl. The toy in question? A My Little Baby Born Walks Doll, which Rachel purchased as a Christmas gift. She has the video evidence to back up her claim, but we have only one question: Where can we buy one? Or maybe even a dozen? Because this sounds absolutely wild!
Rachel shared her shocking discovery with The Daily Mail, recalling the moment her two-year-old daughter, Lily, received the doll. “My husband was the one who took it out of the box and put the batteries in—I wasn’t there at the time,” she explained. “But when it started to talk, it caught his ear. It’s supposed to say ‘mama’ or ‘dada,’ but that’s not what we heard.”
Once I manage to stop giggling, we can dive into this. Alright, I’m back. First off, I have to say no way! That doll can’t possibly be saying “bitch”—it must be some sort of baby babble. A spokesperson for Zapf Creations, the doll’s manufacturer, told The Daily Mail, “The My Little Baby Born Walks doll produces baby babble sounds that are not intended to represent any language or offend users.”
Still, it does sound suspiciously similar to the word “bitch,” and for that reason, we are definitely interested in acquiring as many of these dolls as possible. Imagine the fun we could have!
If this were my situation, my partner and I would probably find it hilarious, share the video of the “swearing” doll with friends, and make it a family heirloom. Picture this: a slightly creepy doll with an unending stream of curse words passed down for generations. Hilarious, right?
However, Rachel isn’t taking the same lighthearted approach. While the store offered her a refund or exchange, she’s pushing for the dolls to be pulled from the shelves entirely. “I’m worried this might not be a one-off occurrence,” she said, her hands clasped tightly. She also expressed guilt over taking away the toy her daughter “really wanted,” as if it were irreplaceable. Honestly, it’s just one doll out of countless others, and a toddler won’t notice the difference.
In short, while that doll is most likely not saying “bitch,” if it were, we would cherish it, share funny videos online, and make it the centerpiece of our gatherings.
