Dear Amazing Kids,
Ho ho ho! It’s Santa here, writing to you from the snowy North Pole! I can’t wait for Christmas to arrive, and my elves are buzzing with excitement as they create toys just for you. The reindeer are gearing up for our big trip around the world, and I’ve noticed that my naughty list is shorter this year, which means you all have been super nice!
I know that the holiday season can sometimes feel a bit tricky, especially when it comes to meeting me. Malls can be noisy, and crowds can feel overwhelming. How do I know all this? Well, here’s a little secret—I have autism just like you!
When I was younger, I often found the wind swirling around as we prepared for Christmas to be dizzying. The elves would sing carols, but their cheerful voices sometimes felt too loud for me. When the reindeer played their games, the excitement would get to be too much, and I’d need to take a break and relax. I remember feeling out of place at the mall during the holiday season, and I didn’t always understand why.
As I grew up, my wonderful elf family, my reindeer pals, and Mrs. Claus helped me feel more comfortable in those bustling situations. Sometimes I still find things a little tough, and that’s perfectly alright!
This year, the elves and I are thrilled to bring a touch of our North Pole magic directly to you! We’re hosting a special autism-friendly day just for you! You’ll get to learn the quieter versions of our favorite songs, try out some fun North Pole-style arts and crafts, and best of all, we’ll snap a special picture together to remember all the joy we shared.
We can’t wait to meet each and every one of you. My hope is that we can create more autism-friendly events in the future for all the kids like you around the world. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a joyful New Year!
