The Thanksgiving Initiative was launched in 2014, sparked by a few families in need and a handful of compassionate individuals willing to help. A few mothers bravely shared their struggles with affording Thanksgiving meals, and the response was heartwarming. We didn’t set out to change the world; we simply aimed to uplift one family at a time.
As word spread, more families reached out with their own challenges, and an overwhelming number of generous donors contributed—from single dollars to several hundred. This effort allowed over four hundred families to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner they might have otherwise missed, leading to the establishment of a new charity.
Every day, our platform embraces diverse voices and experiences from mothers across the globe. Beneath the surface of our differences lies a common thread: the deep, instinctual desire of mothers to nurture and support their families. This essence is what makes the Thanksgiving Initiative so special. Our collective journey as mothers striving for our children’s well-being is what binds this community together. To date, more than 4,500 families have reaped the benefits of this initiative, with last year’s 2,765 applications successfully fulfilled.
