DON’T HANG UP!” I kept shouting until I finally managed to pull on an oversized t-shirt, scrambling back to the screen, finally presentable for a video chat with my daughter.
Mia looked at me, deadpan, and said, “You know, when I come back, if anyone asks me what was the most traumatic thing I experienced while deployed, I’ll have to say ‘MY MOM.’” Clearly, it’s true that you’re never too old to leave a lasting impression on your children.
