Once upon a time, four-year-old Lila was enchanted by Curious George. She adored his stories, his television shows, and even his plush toy version. When Lila’s mother and grandmother informed her of their upcoming trip to New York City, Lila was convinced they would meet him there. After all, didn’t George reside in the big city? Concerned about her potential letdown, her family contemplated how to manage the situation. Ultimately, they explained that many people go on vacation for the long Labor Day weekend, suggesting that George might be doing the same. Nonetheless, Lila was undeterred and was eager to meet her favorite monkey.

To ease her enthusiasm, they decided to write a letter to George: “I’ll be in your city. Can I see you?” They assisted Lila in addressing the envelope: Curious George, c/o The Man in the Yellow Hat, Central Park West, NY, New York. Lila thought it was a wonderful idea.

Upon their arrival at the New York hotel, Lila eagerly awaited news from the little monkey. The next morning, a small gift bag appeared outside their door with a card attached. George had indeed gone out of town but wished her a delightful visit and sent along a few gifts. “George is so nice,” Lila exclaimed, carrying the bag back into the room, much to her mother and grandmother’s relief.

With everyone content, they set off to explore the city. They enjoyed a carriage ride through Central Park and then prepared to board a tour bus to navigate Manhattan. Lila was thrilled, knowing that George had also experienced a bus ride. When they boarded, she seated herself right next to the driver, keeping a watchful eye. But then, with wide eyes, Lila leaned toward the driver and asked, “Do you know Curious George?”
